A Little Well Drilling Background

It takes two operations to install most water wells: drilling the hole and casing it. A hole of sufficient size must be drilled straight down through earth, semi porous rock layers and solid rock, until water of adequate flow is reached. To keep the surrounding earth from caving in and to keep sediment or impurities out of the well, it is lined with a leak proof impervious casing sealed into the solid rock.

How Much Water, How Deep & Where Should Your Well be Located?

Roughly speaking, most residential water wells should supply enough water for 100 gallons per day per person. Agricultural needs are typically higher, figuring for both livestock and irrigation needs.
